Eminent Punjabi writer Dalip Kaur Tiwana passes away

Dalip Kaur Tiwana Death: Eminent Punjabi writer Dalip Kaur Tiwana, 84, passed away on Friday afternoon. She was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mohali. She was suffering from acute congestion of the lungs.

A Padma Shri recipient and Sahitya Akademi awardee, Dalip Kaur Tiwana, was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a Mohali hospital for past three weeks following her illness due to extreme cold weather.

Earlier, she was admitted to a private hospital in Patiala, from where she was shifted to Mohali following deterioration in her health.

In 2015, Tiwana returned the Padma Shri award as a mark of protest against the growing attacks on freedom of speech in the country.
