Big cash haul: ED raids Jharkhand minister's secretary residence, seizes over Rs 25 crore unaccounted cash

Big cash haul: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday conducted raids across multiple locations in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi and also conducted searches at residence of Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alan’s personal secretary Sanjiv Lal.

During the searches at Sanjiv Lal, huge cash amounted to Rs 20 to 30 crore has been recovered.

Video footage captured during the raid reveals a vast expanse of currency notes spread across a room allegedly associated with the domestic aide of Sanjiv Lal, who serves as the personal secretary to Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam.

The recent searches has been carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), and ED authorities have conducted raids at around six premises associated with the former chief engineer of the Jharkhand Rural Development Virendra Ram .

In 2019, a huge amount of cash was recovered from one of his subordinates. Later, the ED took over the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

ED had arrested Virendra K. Ram in February 2023 in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the implementation of some schemes.

He was nabbed by the ED after it launched multiple searches on February 21, 2023, in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and a few other places in Jharkhand, Bihar and Delhi.
