Former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif arrested in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was arrested by the country’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case on Friday. He has been accused of being a direct beneficiary of Chaudhry Sugar Mills.

The NAB also named his daughter Maryam, who was arrested in August and her cousin Yousuf Abbas in the case. She has been accused of over 12 million shares in the sugar mills.

As per the report, In January 2018, the financial monitoring unit of the PML-N government reported a huge suspicious transaction involving billions in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills Ltd to the NAB under the country’s Anti-Money Laundering Act.
