Jewelry worth Rs 140 Cr looted in Uttar Pradesh
A massive theft was reported by a jeweler in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Gold and diamond jewelry worth Rs 140 crore has been stolen from a jewelry store on Birhana Road in Kanpur. The shop was shut down five years back. There was a dispute between the business partners.
Nearly 10,000 carats of diamonds, 500 kg silver, 100 kg gold and jewels worth 5,000 carats were looted. Along with these, important business-related documents were also stolen. The police is checking the CCTV footage of the shops around the shop, where the theft took place.

Superintendent of Police (East) Raj Kumar Agarwal told the media sources that investigation is underway. Police is investigating the matter.

Sometime back, the Kanpur court has ordered the police to re-open the shop in presence of both the partners. However, the theft took place just before the shop could be re-opened.
