CGC Jhanjeri now CGC University, Mohali: A new vision for the next generation

In its journey from a college to a technologically advanced, autonomous university, the leaders have been determined to nurture the new generation.

PTC News Desk: In a significant milestone, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri formally announces its transition into University. The announcement was made during a press conference held at JW Marriott, Chandigarh.


This development marks a significant turning point in institution's legacy spanned over 25 years. In its journey from a college to a technologically advanced, autonomous university, the leaders have been determined to nurture the new generation.


This shift is a bold step towards an industry-oriented education model. CGC University, Mohali plans to become a new hub for AI-led development, tech-first education and innovation in India.


Where over 90% of graduates are considered unqualified for new fields, the institute's curriculum is based on lifelong industrial experience and certifications created in collaboration with corporates.


The press conference was attended by prominent figures from academia and industry. These included:

"This university is my commitment to society. I believe that quality education should be the right of every individual. The objective of CGC University, Mohali is to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and pursue a dignified life," said Founder Chancellor, S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal. 


Dr. Sushil Prashar, Executive Director, DCPD while explaining the 50:50 learning model said, "Our students will learn not just from books, but also from real-time projects, boardroom case studies, and live projects."


Mr. Arsh Dhaliwal, Managing Director while referring to his experience in the United States said, "We are creating a modern, tech-focused curriculum that speaks the language of innovation, industry, and employability."


The institute has also planned to launch digital and vocational courses in regional languages as well in order to bridge the gap between urban and rural.
