Ludhiana: Punjab Roadways bus falls into a pit; 40 passengers escape unhurt

Forty passengers of Punjab Roadways bus escaped unhurt after their bus fell into a deep pit near Maheshpura village in Ludhiana on Friday morning. The bus was going towards Chandigarh and the accident took place on the under-construction Ludhiana-Chandigarh road.

The accident happened because of fog. According to the media reports, when the bus reached near the Maheshpura village, the driver was blinded by the dense fog in the region. The driver failed to notice the closed portion of the road on one side and the signboard to warn the closed sign. The driver failed to turn the bus away from the pit.

The speed of the bus was slow and 40 passengers on board escaped unhurt. The driver and conductor of the bus helped the passengers to board other buses.

Police reached the spot as soon as they received the call. According to the police, no reports of causalities have been reported so far.
