Gurugram techie stabs girlfriend to death, hours later dies after jumping in front of train

PTC News Desk: A software engineer allegedly killed his girlfriend by stabbing her inside her rented flat in Gurugram before dying by suicide after jumping in front of a train, police said. The incident came to light when the woman's family became worried after they could not reach her on the phone and informed the police.
The victim, Ishara Ayubi, was from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh and lived in a rented flat in Sector 55, Gurugram.
According to police, her family contacted the Sector 56 police station after she stopped answering their calls. Initial investigations suggest she was stabbed several times with a knife. A forensic team later visited the flat to collect evidence.
Accused found dead on railway tracks
During the investigation, police found that Ayubi's friend, 25-year-old software engineer Shresth Malik from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh, had visited her flat before the incident.
While searching for Malik, police received information that a man's body had been found in two pieces on railway tracks near Garhi railway station. They believe it was Malik, who is suspected to have died by suicide after the alleged murder.
Police have sent both bodies for post-mortem and informed their families.
A senior police officer said the initial investigation revealed that Ayubi had moved into the rented accommodation with Malik just three days before the incident.
Investigators are looking into all angles of the case. They are trying to understand the nature of their relationship and the reason behind the incident. Police are also examining their mobile phones, call records, chats and other digital evidence.
An FIR has been registered for murder, and further investigation is underway.
