Two Indians among three arrested in Nepal drug bust; heroin, pistol seized

PTC Web Desk: Nepal Police have arrested three suspected drug traffickers, including two Indian nationals, during an anti-narcotics operation in Rupandehi district.

According to Nepal Police, the operation was carried out on Friday by the Anti-Narcotics Bureau following specific intelligence about suspected drug-related activities in the area.


The arrested individuals have been identified as Iqbal Khan (50) from Amethi's Musafirkhana in Uttar Pradesh, Ram Dayal Sharma (34) from Siddharthnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, and Sarajuddin Musalman (24), a resident of Lumbini Municipality in Nepal's Rupandehi district.

The police said the operation turned tense when one of the Indian suspects allegedly opened fire while officers attempted to apprehend the group. During the exchange, Iqbal Khan sustained a gunshot injury below his left knee.

The injured suspect was shifted to Lumbini Provincial Hospital.

During the raid, officers recovered approximately 300 gram of heroin, a pistol, two rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, and two mobile phones.

Authorities have taken the accused into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the seized narcotics. Police are also examining whether the suspects were part of a larger cross-border drug trafficking network.
