PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Punjab on September 9 to take stock of the flood situation. According to the sources, PM is likely to land at Amritsar on Tuesday afternoon and hold a review meeting with top Punjab ministers and officials.

The BJP Punjab handle announced the visit on X, saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Gurdaspur, Punjab on 9th September. He will meet directly with the flood-affected brothers-sisters and farmers to share their sorrow and take every possible step to help the victims.

Earlier the government sources suggested that PM Modi will also visit other flood battered states of northern India. Relentless monsoon rains have triggered flash floods and landslides across Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand in recent weeks, leaving more than 500 people dead since June.

Punjab is battling worst floods in decades with over 1,900 villages across 23 districts submerged. At least 43 people have died, while crops on nearly 1.71 lakh hectares have been damaged.
