PTC Web Desk: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday issued a strong rebuttal to reported remarks by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir during his visit to the United States, terming them an example of “nuclear sabre-rattling.”

In a statement, the MEA said the comments reflected the “irresponsibility” of Pakistan’s military leadership and reinforced global concerns over the integrity of its nuclear command and control—particularly in a country where the armed forces are “hand-in-glove with terrorist groups.”

The ministry further expressed regret that such remarks were made from the territory of a friendly third country. “The international community can draw its own conclusions on the irresponsibility inherent in such remarks,” the MEA noted.

Reiterating New Delhi’s long-standing position, the ministry made it clear that India would not succumb to nuclear blackmail and would take all necessary steps to safeguard its national security.

“Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade,” the statement asserted, adding that India remains committed to defending its sovereignty and security interests in the face of such rhetoric.
