Chandigarh firing: Shots fired at builders house in Sector 21, hours after Sector 32 firing
Initial investigation suggests that five to six rounds were discharged by unknown attackers.
PTC News Desk: Gangsters allegedly opened fire outside the residence of builder Ankit Sidana, who had recently returned from Dubai. The shooting took place around 2:30 am, causing panic among nearby residents who woke up to the sound of gunfire. Around six shots were reportedly fired, and one of the bullets struck Sidana’s parked car.
Initial investigation suggests that five to six rounds were discharged by unknown attackers. “A bullet was found lodged in Ankit’s car outside the house. The shooters also threw nearly 10 handwritten notes before escaping on a motorcycle,” a source said.
Some of the notes mentioned the names of gangsters Pawan Shokeen and Mohabbat Randhawa, though the police have not confirmed any link. Sidana had earlier complained of receiving extortion threats from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, after which the Punjab Police provided him security. Security guards were present during the incident, but the CCTV cameras installed outside the house were non-functional.
Sidana reportedly learned about the attack in the morning. “People inside the house initially mistook the gunshots for firecrackers. They discovered the attack only after noticing bullet holes in a car, the gate, and the wall,” the source added. Police recovered handwritten notes and bullet casings from the scene. A team from the Sector 19 police station, along with forensic experts, arrived to examine the area. Officers said the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
