Five Punjabi youths have reportedly been stranded in Colombia while attempting to enter US through illegal means

PTC Web Desk: Despite strict immigration policies enforced by the United States, the craze among Punjabi youths to reach America shows no signs of fading. In a recent development, five Punjabi youths have reportedly been stranded in Colombia while attempting to enter the US through illegal means.
According to available information, the youths were travelling via the "donkey route"—a colloquial term for illegal immigration paths. Unfortunately, during their journey, they were intercepted by local criminals who robbed them of their mobile phones and money. The stranded individuals have released a video pleading for assistance.
Among the five abducted youths is Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Jamalpur village in Jalandhar, Punjab. The news has caused considerable distress within his family, who are now living in fear and uncertainty. They have appealed to the Government of India for immediate help in rescuing their son and the others.
Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has addressed the issue, confirming that the Ministry of External Affairs is in active communication regarding the repatriation of the stranded youths. In addition, Member of Parliament Satnam Sandhu has written to the External Affairs Minister, urging direct intervention and assistance for the five Punjabi nationals stuck in Colombia.
This incident once again highlights the persistent issue of illegal immigration and the risks associated with it, as well as the need for stronger awareness and diplomatic action to safeguard the lives of Indian citizens abroad.
