Over Rs 1.25 crore jewellery looted from showroom in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur on Lohri night
Preliminary information suggests that more than 10 unidentified persons were involved in the crime
PTC Web Desk: In a major security breach on the night of Lohri, unidentified criminals carried out a well-planned robbery at Joy Jewellers, located on the Mukerian–Talwara Road in Hoshiarpur district. Gold and silver jewellery along with other ready stock worth approximately Rs 1.25 crore was looted during the incident.
According to the shop owner, Anuj Mahajan, the showroom was closed in the evening as per routine. Late at night, a local resident living near the shop alerted him about suspicious activity outside the premises. Upon reaching the spot, Mahajan found the shop’s shutter broken and display showcases and counters completely emptied. Jewellery belonging to both the showroom and customers was missing.
Preliminary information suggests that more than 10 unidentified persons were involved in the crime. The entire sequence of events has been captured by CCTV cameras installed inside the showroom.
Following the information, a police team led by SHO Daljit Singh reached the scene and initiated an investigation. Police officials confirmed that CCTV footage is being closely examined and multiple angles are being explored to identify and trace the accused.
