SAD leader Vardev Singh Noni Mann arrested in connection with Fazilka clash
According to reports, the case was registered during the panchayat elections over protests against alleged high-handedness by the ruling party at the Jalalabad Panchayat office.
PTC News Desk: Shiromani Akali Dal leader Vardev Singh Noni Mann was arrested in Chandigarh on Tuesday night in connection with last year’s clash outside the Block Development and Panchayat Officer’s office in Jalalabad, Fazilka district.
According to reports, the case was registered during the panchayat elections over protests against alleged high-handedness by the ruling party at the Jalalabad Panchayat office.
Earlier, Vardev Singh’s younger brother, Nardev Singh Bobby Mann, had also been arrested in the same case. The two brothers were booked under Section 307 (attempt to murder) for allegedly firing shots at the Jalalabad Panchayat office.
Police officials said the incident dates back to October 2024, when a clash between rival groups turned violent, leading to stone-pelting and gunfire.
During the violence, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Mandeep Singh Brar, who was contesting for the post of sarpanch from Muhamadwala village, sustained a bullet injury to his chest.
