Covid-19: Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi in isolation, details inside

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi will give Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Ferozepur rally a miss as he has kept himself in isolation after two of his staff members tested positive for Covid-19.

According to information, two members of Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi's staff have tested positive for Covid-19 after which the Chief Minister decided to keep himself in isolation and skip PM Narendra Modi's Ferozepur rally.

Coronavirus cases in Punjab have been rising rapidly as the state on Tuesday recorded 1027 fresh cases of Covid-19.

Earlier in the day, Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) president and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa had tested positive for Covid-19.

Dhindsa said that he was on his way to Ferozepur to attend PM Narendra Modi's rally but returned after receiving the test report.

PM Narendra Modi and former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would share a stage together ahead of Punjab Assembly elections for the first time.

Amid surging COVID-19 cases, Punjab Health Minister OP Soni had on Tuesday said that political rallies with huge gatherings should be banned and informed that Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi will soon take a decision on it.
