In a shocking incident, at least five people, including four of a family, were killed by armed men at Kairon village in Tarn Taran district on Wednesday night.
According to the information, the deceased have been identified as a 65-year-old named Brij Lal, his two daughters-in-law (a 28-year-old Jaspreet Kaur and 26-year-old Amandeep Kaur), a 22-year-old man named Daljit Singh and Brij Lal’s driver Gursahib Singh Saba.
As per the report, the throats of all five of them were slit with sharp-edged weapons by more than four unidentified men. Upon receiving the information, the SSP Dhruv Dahia and other senior officials rushed to the spot.
The 65-year-old Brij Lal had several drug-peddling cases against him. Brij's wife Ranjit Kaur, who was in Amritsar Central Jail in similar cases, had died three years ago.
Reportedly, Brij's two sons — Bakshish Singh Sonu and Paramjit Singh Pamma, are addicted to drugs. Currently, they are under treatment at a de-addiction centre in Tarn Taran.
Punjab Police sub-inspector shot dead
A sub-inspector of Punjab Police was allegedly shot dead by some unidentified men in Abohar on Wednesday night. He has been identified as Gurwinder Singh aka Vicky.
