FBI launches manhunt for Indian national in US-wide fraud scheme case

PTC News Desk: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched manhunt for an Indian national accused of orchestrating long-standing fraud scheme across the United States. FBI has also urged the public to step forward ith information on his whereabouts. 



In a post on X, the FBI said Kalpeshkumar Rasikbhai Patel, also known as Kenny Patel, is “wanted by the FBI” for his alleged role in a nationwide operation that targeted multiple victims between 2017 and 2021.


The FBI has identified Patel, a former fuel station attendant, as a suspect in a nationwide fraud scheme that allegedly operated between 2017 and 2021, targeting victims and tricking them into transferring large sums of money.


According to the agency, Patel—around 35 years old—is believed to be living in or moving between Illinois and Pennsylvania.


Investigators said victims were typically contacted over the phone and misled into thinking their identities or personal details were linked to criminal activity. They were then persuaded to send money—often as cash or prepaid debit cards—to various addresses across the United States.


A federal arrest warrant against Patel was issued on June 22, 2023, by the US District Court in London, Kentucky, where he faces charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
