Nepal floods LIVE UPDATES: 359 bodies recovered so far, 288 Indians among 1,500; govt warns of fresh flood threat
The Ministry of External Affairs said around 288 Indian nationals remain stranded in flood-ravaged Nepal. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said they include 73 workers from the Trishuli-1 power project, 37 and 49 Tamil Nadu residents travelling for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, 32 West Bengal nationals in Timure, 61 Indians from different states, and 33 people from Kerala.
The Nepal Embassy in New Delhi has released emergency contact numbers for people and families looking for information or assistance regarding those affected by the flash floods in Nepal.

For other foreign nationals: First Secretary Deepak Ghimire can be contacted on WhatsApp at +91 93111 30838.
A total of 103 people from Tamil Nadu are currently stuck in Nepal, according to official figures. This includes 54 Tamilians from Kumbakonam-based Super Yatra Travels and 49 Tamilians from Chennai-based Mahadev Kailash Yatra.

Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has expressed anguish over a devastating flash flood near the Tibet-Nepal border and said 77 members of an Isha Foundation Kailash pilgrimage group remain unaccounted for after the disaster struck the Gyirong area in Tibet. The Spiriitual leader who is in Tibet said he was unable to trave to the location of the disaster as all roads were blocked.
The Nepal Army rescued 123 people by helicopter on Thursday morning after severe flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.
The Army said 95 people were evacuated from Timure, while seven people trapped inside a hydropower project tunnel in Haku were rescued. In addition, 21 Indian tourists who had been reported missing were found safe and brought to safety.
Search and rescue teams are continuing their efforts to find people who may still be trapped inside other tunnels in the flood-affected areas.
Officials said rescue and relief work is being carried out on priority in all areas affected by the floods.
The government has intensified search, rescue and relief operations in the areas affected by massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district. The United States has extended its condolences to the grieving families who have lost their loved ones in the devastating floods in Nepal's Rasuwa district. Washington has also deployed a disaster response advisor to the region and has pledged $500,000 to support rescue efforts.
The Nepal Army has restarted rescue operations in areas hit by floods in the Bhote Koshi region, using five helicopters to evacuate stranded people.
On Thursday, the Army rescued 97 people from the affected areas. In the morning, three people were airlifted from a tunnel in Mailung, while another 14 were rescued from Timure.
Officials said helicopter operations are still underway to move people trapped in flood-hit areas to safer places.
The Indian Air Force has kept its C-17 and C-130 transport aircraft on standby to fly relief assistance to flood-hit Nepal, government sources said on Wednesday.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has directed authorities to launch an extensive search and rescue operation after a mudslide near the Nepal-China border left several people missing.
The mudslide struck the Gyirong border port in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region on Wednesday morning. Authorities have been instructed to strengthen emergency response and rescue efforts as teams continue searching for the missing and assessing the damage caused by the incident.
India is preparing to send relief supplies to Nepal as soon as possible following the devastating flash floods in the Bhote Koshi river basin, government sources said on Wednesday. The disaster has claimed at least eight lives, while 33 security personnel were reported missing, according to the latest available information.
The move comes hours after the Nepal Army said it had not requested assistance from India, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) or the Indian Army. Government sources said New Delhi is closely coordinating with Kathmandu and monitoring the situation along the border.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Wednesday and expressed his condolences over the deaths caused by the devastating floods in Nepal. Government sources said Modi assured Shah that India stands with Nepal and is ready to provide all possible humanitarian and relief assistance during the crisis.
India is closely monitoring the situation and remains in contact with Nepal as rescue and relief efforts continue in the flood-affected areas.

PTC News Desk: A massive flash flood near the Nepal-Tibet border has killed more than 150 people and left hundreds missing, including over 140 Indians on Wednesday. The floods swept away homes, vehicles, bridges and several infrastructure project sites. Bihar, which shares a border with Nepal, also issued an alert as the floodwaters moved downstream.
Officials said the floodwaters entered the Bhote Koshi River from the Tibetan side at around 9 am, badly affecting Timure and Syapru Besi. A mudslide also hit the Tibetan side near the Gyirong border crossing, causing deaths and leaving several people missing, according to China’s state-run Xinhua.
The exact cause of the flash floods was not immediately known. Nepal’s Flood Forecasting Division said heavy rainfall in Rasuwa was unlikely to have caused the flooding, while satellite images showed significant rain on the Tibetan side. Officials are investigating whether a glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) may have triggered the disaster.
Videos shared on social media showed powerful floodwaters rushing through the area and carrying away a bridge. Another video showed a house collapsing as people ran to safety.
The Nepal government launched rescue operations in the affected areas. However, helicopters could not land in some places because of the high water levels. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered an extensive search for missing people in Tibet and called for better monitoring and early-warning systems to prevent further disasters.
Bihar on alert
The Bihar government increased monitoring of the situation as floodwaters moved towards India. Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit held a video conference with district magistrates and instructed officials in areas along the Gandak and Kosi river systems to remain especially alert.
Villages and border market washed away
Rasuwa Chief District Officer Narendra Pariyar said officials had received reports that villages and infrastructure sites had been washed away. The full extent of the damage was still being assessed.
Pariyar warned that the disaster could have caused significant loss of life and property.
Timure Bazaar, a market near the Tibet border, and the nearby customs area suffered major damage. Vehicles and goods were swept away by the floodwaters.
A newly built Friendship Bridge at Rasuwagadhi was also destroyed. The bridge had been reconstructed after a deadly flood last year.
