Nearly a dozen of people have contacted the temple after seeing the advertisement on the internet and some have already exchanged passport information and personal details with the fraudsters. The fraudsters have also set up a website domain and email address similar to the Gurdwara's.

Virdee said that the crime has been reported to both Kent Police and the National Home Office of Action Fraud. In response, a Kent Police spokesperson said they had received a report and were investigating the circumstances.

The Gurdwara has urged people to not exchange any documents or money with the perpetrators, and to be aware that the advertisement is not affiliated with them. Gravesend is home to more than 15,000 Sikhs.
