Middle East crisis: US F-15 fighter jet crashes in Kuwait; pilot ejects safely, refinery workers injured
Preliminary information suggests the pilot managed to eject before the jet crashed; US and Kuwaiti authorities have yet to issue an official statement
PTC Web Desk: An American F-15 fighter aircraft went down in Kuwaiti airspace on Monday morning amid intensifying hostilities across the Middle East. The incident occurred as the conflict involving the United States and Iran entered its third day.
Preliminary information suggests the pilot managed to eject before the jet crashed. Unverified videos circulating online appear to show the pilot on the ground being assisted and sheltered inside a vehicle. However, US and Kuwaiti authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming his condition.
The reason behind the crash remains under investigation. Early reports have speculated that the aircraft may have been mistakenly engaged by a Patriot air defence system, a US-manufactured platform designed to intercept missiles and hostile aircraft. Defence analysts note that although rare, friendly fire incidents can occur due to radar misidentification, communication failures or technical glitches in Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems.
Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) confirmed that debris from the aircraft landed inside the Mina Al Ahmadi refinery complex, resulting in minor injuries to two workers. Emergency response teams were dispatched to the site and refinery operations were being assessed as a precaution.
Footage shared on social media appears to capture the jet descending rapidly before impact, though the authenticity of the clips has not been independently verified.
Officials from both Washington and Kuwait City are expected to provide further clarity as investigations continue.
