PTC News Desk: A massive fire broke out at a pub in Bangkok early on Monday, killing at least 27 people and injuring several others, according to Thai authorities. The blaze spread rapidly through the building, trapping many people inside before firefighters managed to bring it under control.

The fire started shortly after midnight at the Na Ladprao pub in northern Bangkok, triggering a large emergency response. According to the Associated Press, 63 people were injured in the incident, with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt saying that 22 of them are in critical condition.

Videos from the scene showed flames shooting out from the entrance as panicked customers rushed to escape. Thick black smoke quickly filled the pub, making it difficult for many to find a way out. Rescue teams said they received the emergency call around midnight and reached the spot immediately.

Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the site and confirmed that at least 27 people had died. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Officials have launched an investigation to find out what caused the fire.

Fire believed to have started near the stage

According to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the fire is believed to have started near the stage after smoke was seen coming from a circuit breaker. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said the flames quickly spread to decorative materials on the ceiling, creating thick and toxic smoke that filled the pub within minutes.

The Prime Minister said many victims were found near the restrooms at the back of the building, suggesting they were trying to escape. He added that most of the deaths were caused by smoke inhalation rather than burns.

Firefighters took about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Photos from the scene showed severe damage inside the pub, with burnt furniture, blackened walls and widespread destruction.
