Iran says struck US aircraft carrier Lincoln, American report says threat foiled

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it carried out a missile and drone attack on the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN‑72). According to Iranian officials, the strike damaged the ship and forced it to retreat from waters near the Gulf region.

However, the United States has denied the claim. US officials say the aircraft carrier remains fully operational and continues to support military operations in the region.

Saudi Arabia Intercepts Drone Over Riyadh

Saudi Arabia downed a drone targeting Riyadh's Diplomatic Quarter, the country's defence ministry said.

PTC News Desk: As strikes by the United States and Israel continue to hit Iran, and Iran targets shipping and energy facilities in the Persian Gulf, there is still no sign that the war will end soon. Because of the conflict, oil prices have risen again to more than $100 per barrel. Heavy airstrikes have hit Tehran and nearby areas, while Iran has also launched attacks on neighbouring Arab Gulf countries. The Pentagon said the first week of the war cost the United States about $11.3 billion.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees says up to 3.2 million people in Iran have been displaced by the fighting. In Lebanon, authorities say around 800,000 people have been forced to leave their homes as Israel’s military destroys buildings linked to the Iran-backed group Hezbollah.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that during talks mediated by Oman with the United States, Iran had suggested stopping any plans to develop nuclear weapons. However, he claimed Washington rejected the idea because US officials did not fully understand the technical details.

His comments came after US President Donald Trump said the main goal of the war was to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons, shifting the focus from his earlier concern about keeping energy prices low.

Because the war has pushed oil and gasoline prices higher, Trump’s team has struggled to explain how it plans to reopen the important Strait of Hormuz, where many oil and gas tankers are currently unable to pass.
