37 civilians killed in Western Africa Violence

At least 37 civilians were killed in a gruesome attack on Tuesday in Koulogon village in Mali (a small country in West Africa).  The incident took place around 5 am (local time).

According to the media reports, attackers dressed as Traditional Donzo hunters opened fire killing 37 people and injuring many others.  They also burned down several houses in the village. The Malian government briefed the media that the violence in central Mali between nomadic Fulani herders and Bambara and Dogon farmers has increased a lot. In the attack, the village chief and his entire family was killed.

Every now and then, the disputes over access to land and water have increased many folds now.

According to the United Nations, more than 500 people have died in the year 2018 in the region. The UN further told that in June, 24 members of the Fulani community were brutally killed by Dogon farmers.
