Accept privacy policy or lose functions: WhatsApp

Amid criticism over the upcoming privacy policy, WhatsApp stated that its users will not immediately lose their accounts on May 15. However, it stated that they will have to go through limited functions if they fail to accept the new update in the due course of time.

Facebook-owned messaging platform Whatsapp has more than two billion users with over 400 million users in India.

The tech-giant warned that some users would lose some functionalities if they fail to accept the new privacy policy after "persistent reminders".

WhatsApp, in an FAQ update, stated that despite giving time to review, it has continued to remind those who haven't had the chance to do so to review and accept.

Following persistent reminders, the WhatsApp users will encounter the limited functionality on the platform until they accept the new update.

However, it will not happen to all users at the same time. After weeks of limited functionality, the users won't be able to receive incoming calls or notifications. Even WhatsApp will stop sending messages and calls to the phone of users.

It is pertinent to mention that WhatsApp won't delete the account if you don't accept the terms and conditions.

For the last several weeks, WhatsApp has been displaying a notification to its users giving more information about the update.
