Applied Emergency Brakes But Couldn't Stop in Time: DMU Driver
- I was given a green light and told to proceed.
- As I reached Jora Phatak, I saw double amber lights indicating to slow down.
- At that very instant I also saw the crowd on tracks.
- I applied the emergency brakes and was continuously blowing the horn.
- The speed of the train dropped rapidly, but still, it crushed many people.
- The train was about to stop when people started throwing stones at the train.
- Keeping in mind, my passengers’ safety I decided not to stop the train and continued moving towards Amritsar station.
- As soon as I reached the station, I informed my superiors of all that happened.
