Chandigarh reports two new cases of coronavirus, tally rises to 420

The total number of coronavirus cases in Chandigarh has increased to 420 after two new positive cases were reported from the union territory on Wednesday. According to the information, a 38-year-old woman, a resident of Khuda Lahora, and a 37-year-old woman, a resident of Sector 29-B, were tested positive for the contagion disease on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the active cases of coronavirus have increased to 92.

The Chandigarh municipal corporation and health department team quarantined several people in Sector 22-D after a positive case was reported on Tuesday.

Recently, Chandigarh Administrator VP Singh Badnore stated that "more than just mere number of testing, the actual required screening/testing done by our medical teams and digging out new COVID cases with their intense effort is appreciable. Focus on 3Ts — Tracing Testing and Treating — perhaps correct policy to combat COVID."

He had also said that "In case there is fresh break-out in any of the areas of Chandigarh that has recently been opened up, fresh restrictions will again be imposed. The residents are advised to strictly follow social distancing hand hygiene mask-wearing and other practices."

"To check the violations, a special drive will be undertaken to impose on the spot fine. DGP of Chandigarh Police to ensure that there is regular checking of persons coming from outside. Police Control Room to randomly check their locations to ensure that they observe proper home quarantine," he added.
