Human to animal transmission? Hong Kong dog tests positive for Coronavirus

While thousands of people were infected from coronavirus, now, a dog has been confirmed positive in Hong Kong. It is being suspected that it was a case of human to animal transmission, the authorities said. The dog that belongs to a 60-year-old woman, who is infected from coronavirus, had been tested weak positive while she was being quarantined at an animal center.

City's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) stated that the tests have suggested that the dog – Pomeranian – has a low level of infection. Meanwhile, the experts from the World Organisation for Animal Health have agreed that it was likely to be a case of human-to-animal transmission. It added that there were no coronavirus symptoms in the dog.

Meanwhile, the new measures in Hong Kong have suggested that all the pets infected with coronavirus must be quarantined for at least 14 days. Likewise, two dogs are already in isolation. The other dog in isolation also belongs to the second coronavirus patient who was tested negative once and will only be released after another test.

Politics over Coronavirus in India

While India has confirmed 30 cases so far, the crisis has turned into another topic for politics.

Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and wrote: "The Health Minister saying that the Indian Govt has the coronavirus crisis under control, is like the Capt of the Titanic telling passengers not to panic as his ship was unsinkable. It's time the Govt made public an action plan backed by solid resources to tackle this crisis."
