Diljit Dosanjh shares intense poster of Punjab 95 as Jaswant Singh Khalra
The poster, featuring him with bound hands and an intense, piercing look, offers a chilling preview of the film’s serious tone and the weight of its subject.
PTC News Desk: Diljit Dosanjh has unveiled a powerful new poster for his upcoming film Punjab 95, in which he is seen in a dramatic transformation as the late human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
The poster, featuring him with bound hands and an intense, piercing look, offers a chilling preview of the film’s serious tone and the weight of its subject.
The image quickly gained traction online, reigniting interest in the long-stalled film. Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies, Punjab 95 tells the true story of Khalra, who exposed illegal killings in Punjab during the 1980s and ’90s.
The film has been steeped in controversy, with reports that the censor board demanded up to 120 cuts due to its politically sensitive content.
Trehan has described the film as “a haunting portrayal of state violence and the consequences of speaking out.” Originally scheduled to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, Punjab 95 was pulled at the last minute, adding to its rocky release path.
Still, Diljit has remained committed to the film, frequently using his platform to spotlight its message. While the film awaits final clearance, he is also busy shooting for his next venture, Border 2, alongside Varun Dhawan and Ahaan Shetty.
