Surrey cafe shootings became wake-up call for Canada: Kapil Sharma at trailer launch of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2
Kapil Sharma says despite the traumatic events, each incident unexpectedly drew more public attention to his cafe
PTC Web Desk: Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma on Wednesday said three shooting incidents at his café in Surrey, Canada, compelled authorities to take stronger action against such attacks in the country. Sharma spoke on the issue for the first time during the trailer launch event of his upcoming film 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2'.
Responding to questions about the shootings, Kapil Sharma said the local police and regulations might not have had adequate power to control such incidents earlier. “But when our case happened, it went to the federal government, and the matter was even discussed in the Canadian Parliament,” he said.
Kapil Sharma added that despite the traumatic events, each incident unexpectedly drew more public attention to the café. “In fact, after every shooting, our café saw a bigger opening. So if God is with me, everything will be fine,” he remarked.
The 43-year-old actor said many people reached out to him after the attacks, informing him that several similar incidents had occurred in the area but were not widely reported. “After the shooting at my café, it became a major news story, and now steps are being taken to improve law and order there,” he added.
Sharma also emphasised that he has never felt unsafe in Mumbai or anywhere in India. “There is no place like Mumbai,” he said.
