Asha Bhosle suffers cardiac arrest, hospitalised; PM Modi prays for speedy recovery
PTC News Desk: Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle was rushed to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest on Saturday, April 11. She is currently admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where she is being treated in the emergency unit.
Sharing an update, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle said that Asha Bhosle was hospitalised due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. She also requested privacy for the family, adding that treatment is ongoing and they hope for a positive update soon.
Amid this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a note wishing for her speedy recovery.
Taking to the X handle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, "Deeply concerned to hear that Asha Bhosle Ji has been admitted to hospital. Praying for her good health and a speedy recovery."
According to hospital sources, Asha Bhosle was unconscious when she was brought in and is currently in the ICU under close medical supervision.
Asha Bhosle is one of the most celebrated singers in Indian music. Born on September 8, 1933, she started singing at a young age and went on to become one of the most recorded artists in the world. She has sung thousands of songs in languages like Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Gujarati. Known for her versatility, she has performed across genres including classical, ghazals, pop, cabaret, and folk. She is especially famous for her collaborations with music composer R. D. Burman, which produced many iconic songs.
