FIR lodged for bringing low price paddy to Punjab from other states

The Food and Civil Supplies Department on Monday got an FIR registered in Mansa for bringing low price paddy on the pretext of Basmati to Punjab from other states.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Punjab, Bharat Bhushan Ashu said an inter-state naka had been set up on the Sardulgarh road, where department officials intercepted a truck coming from Rajasthan side.

On checking, it was found that truck was transporting low price paddy claiming it to be Basmati into Punjab. An FIR has been got registered against Pal Singh and Gurmeet Singh under Sections 420 and 188 of the IPC at the Sardulgarh police station.

Bharat Bhushan Ashu said to check recycling /bogus billing of paddy, 150 flying squads had been formed across the state.
