Rotaract Club of Amity University, Punjab holds walkathon at Sukhna Lake on Independence Day

Rotaract Club of Amity University Punjab and Rotary Club Chandigarh Uptown organised a Walkathon at Sukhna Lake on Independence Day, with 80 medicinal plants distributed to promote environmental sustainability

PTC News Desk: The Rotaract Club of Amity University Punjab, Mohali, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Chandigarh Uptown, organised a Walkathon at Sukhna Lake on Saturday to mark India’s 80th Independence Day.


The event aimed to celebrate the spirit of independence while promoting environmental awareness, sustainability and community participation.

As part of the initiative, 80 medicinal plants were distributed to underline the importance of protecting the environment and promoting a greener and healthier future.


Students of the Rotaract Club, members of the Rotary Club of Chandigarh Uptown and members of the public participated in the Walkathon.


 The participation of students highlighted the role of youth in community service, volunteerism and social responsibility.


The event also saw enthusiastic participation from the public, adding to the spirit of unity and patriotism at Sukhna Lake.


The organisers said the initiative was aimed at linking Independence Day celebrations with a sense of responsibility towards the environment and society. The Walkathon and plant distribution conveyed a simple message of contributing to a greener India.


The initiative also reaffirmed the commitment of the Rotaract Club of Amity University Punjab and Rotary Club of Chandigarh Uptown to promoting youth participation, environmental sustainability and community service.


According to the organisers, the objective of this initiative was to liken Independence Day celebrations with a sense of responsibility that each and every individual should possess towards environment and society. The message conveyed through this walkathon was simple- to make significant contribution to a greener India.

Students, Rotary Club members and members of the public took part in the Walkathon. The participation of students highlighted the important role of young people in community service, volunteering and social responsibility.

The public also joined the event enthusiastically, creating an atmosphere of unity and patriotism at Sukhna Lake.

The organisers said the initiative aimed to connect Independence Day celebrations with responsibility towards society and the environment. Through the Walkathon and plant distribution, they encouraged people to contribute towards building a greener India.
