KBC 11: Amitabh Bachchan issues apology over Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj title row

Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachchan landed in trouble recently, after the  viewers along with Shri Rajput Karni Sena and BJP Leader Nitesh Rane started protest over a question asked In the reality show. In the question, Maratha warrior ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was referred to as just Shivaji and soon after, viewers expressed their disappointment over this.

There were people who alleged that the show makers and Amitabh Bachchan have shown disrespect towards the ruler. After social media lashed out on Kaun Banega Crorepati, the channel authorities issued an apology. On Thursday, the makers ran a ticker that read, "There was an inaccurate reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during yesterday's episode, due to inadvertence. We deeply regret the same."

Meanwhile, Siddhartha Basu and Amitabh Bachchan have also issued an apology for the same. Basu said in a tweet, "No insult or disrespect whatsoever was intended to the memory of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a question on KBC 11. This season there have been a number of questions which have all used his name with the full title. Apologies for the inadvertent omission of title in the choice."

Likewise, Amitabh Bachchan said in a tweet, "No disrespect meant at all.. apologies if it has hurt sentiments."
