Minor Explosion reported in Sri Lankan Town near Colombo

A minor explosion was reported in Sri Lankan town near Colombo on Thursday morning. The blast was heard from vacant land behind the magistrate’s court in Pugoda town, 40 km east of the capital Colombo. Sri Lankan authorities did not share much detail with the media. No causalities have been reported so far.

According to the authorities, it was not a controlled explosion like other blasts in recent days. They are investigating the matter.

This minor explosion came amid high tensions in Sri Lanka following the Easter Sunday suicide bomber attacks that killed 360 people and wounded about 600.
