Moga youth found murdered in Canada

In a suspected case of hate crime, a 23-year-old youth from Bukkanwala village in Moga district, Punjab, was allegedly murdered with sharp-edged weapons at Truro town in New Scotia province of Canada on September 7.

The incident was confirmed by the deputy chief of the Truro Police Service Robert Hearn. The body of the Punjabi-origin youth was found at a Robie Street apartment building in Truro town.

The official said the investigation into the murder case was underway. He, however, refused to divulge more details about the youth.

On the other hand, as per reports available from local sources in India and as per news published in local media too, the youth has been identified as Prabhjot Singh Katri, a resident of Bukkanwala village in Canada. His family has confirmed his murder in Canada.

The victim had moved Canada on a study visa in 2017.  The family members have urged the Government of India to bring back the body of their son so that his last rites could be performed at his native village in Punjab.
