Chandigarh Administration revises Bakrid holiday, declares public holiday on May 28
Chandigarh Administration has shifted Bakrid (Eid-ul-Zuha) public holiday from May 27 to May 28, following expected moon sighting and festival observance
PTC Web Desk: The Chandigarh Administration has revised the date of the public holiday for Bakrid (Eid-ul-Zuha) in 2026. Earlier scheduled for May 27, the holiday will now be observed on May 28, 2026 (Thursday).
According to a fresh notification issued by the administration, a partial modification has been made to the official holiday list for the year. As per the revised order, all government offices, boards, corporations, institutions, and industrial establishments under the Chandigarh Administration will remain closed on May 28.
Officials said the decision was taken in view of the expected moon sighting and the likely date of the festival.
The administration clarified that the amendment has been made to ensure the public holiday aligns with the actual observance of Eid-ul-Zuha.
