PTC Web Desk: The Chandigarh Traffic Police have issued a fresh traffic advisory, announcing diversions and restrictions on several key road stretches in the city with immediate effect, citing "special arrangements" being made in the city.
According to an official notice issued by the department, the changes will remain in force from today, August 31, 2026, onwards until further notice.
Roads affected
The advisory lists the following diversions and restrictions:
Faidan Barrier to Chandigarh (Purv Marg): This stretch has been diverted.
T-Point, Sector 48 Light Point (near the Wine Shop) to internal Sector 48 road: This stretch has been restricted.
Sector 48/49 and Sector 49/50 roads towards Chandigarh: These stretches have been restricted.
Advisory for commuters
The Chandigarh Traffic Police have urged commuters to plan their travel in advance and use alternate routes wherever possible to avoid inconvenience. Residents and daily commuters have been advised to keep track of real-time updates through the department's official social media handles:
