CNG price hike: IGL raises rates by Rs 3.89 per kg, check new prices

PTC Web Desk: CNG has become more expensive across Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region, adding to the financial pressure on consumers already dealing with rising prices of essential commodities such as sugar and onions.
Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 3.89 per kg in Delhi and several NCR cities. The revised prices came into effect from 6 am on Saturday.
New CNG prices in Delhi-NCR
Following the latest revision, CNG will now cost:
Delhi: Rs 86.98 per kg
Noida and Ghaziabad: Rs 95.59 per kg
Gurugram: Rs 92.01 per kg
Meerut: Rs 95.47 per kg
This is reportedly the fifth CNG price increase of the year, adding to concerns among motorists and commuters who rely on CNG-powered vehicles.

The latest increase is expected to put additional pressure on people who regularly use auto-rickshaws, taxis and other CNG-powered vehicles. Higher fuel costs could also increase operating expenses for public transport operators and commercial vehicle owners.
The impact may not be limited to transportation. A rise in public transport and freight costs could eventually add to the cost of moving everyday goods, potentially putting further pressure on household budgets.
Why has IGL increased CNG prices?
IGL has attributed the latest hike to the higher cost of imported LNG in international markets.
According to the company, LNG prices in the spot market have remained elevated amid continuing tensions in West Asia. The increase in input costs has made a revision in CNG prices necessary, with IGL saying the hike will help recover part of the additional cost.
With fuel prices directly affecting transport and logistics expenses, consumers and businesses are likely to keep a close watch on whether the higher CNG rates lead to further increases in fares and operating costs.
