Delhi couple arrested for spying for Pakistans ISI, sent surveys of Cantonment areas, critical info
Investigators said the suspected network had connections stretching from Delhi to Karachi and Islamabad.
PTC News Desk: Delhi Police’s Special Cell has reportedly uncovered a Pakistan-backed espionage network and arrested a Delhi-based couple accused of spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) since 2024.
The accused have been identified as 25-year-old Sahil and his 21-year-old wife, Sameera. Police said the couple was allegedly in contact with intelligence operatives based in Pakistan and helped them obtain sensitive information related to India.
Investigators said the suspected network had connections stretching from Delhi to Karachi and Islamabad. Pakistani handlers allegedly sent money to the couple in exchange for their assistance.
Indian SIM cards allegedly sent to Pakistan
According to police, Sahil and Sameera obtained eight Indian SIM cards and sent them to Pakistan through Dubai between 2024 and 2025. The couple was allegedly paid Rs 30,000 for the SIM cards.
Police said the SIM cards were used in Pakistan to activate WhatsApp accounts. Pakistani intelligence operatives allegedly used these accounts to communicate with people in India and collect sensitive information.
Some of these WhatsApp accounts were also allegedly used to join Indian WhatsApp groups in an attempt to access information.
The investigation further revealed that Pakistan-based handlers were allegedly communicating with people in India, including suspected overground workers and sleeper-cell members, through social media platforms and encrypted communication services, police said.
