PTC News Desk: Delhi has been put on high alert after intelligence agencies warned about possible terror attacks using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at important locations in the city, sources told India Today TV.

Following the alert, Delhi Police increased security at sensitive and crowded areas across the national capital. Special checking drives were carried out at several key locations. Security was also stepped up outside the Delhi BJP state office and the BJP national headquarters, where police conducted inspections and added extra barricades.

The alert comes weeks after the Delhi Police Special Cell busted a gang allegedly linked to Pakistani gangster-terror operative Shahzad Bhatti, who is said to be working for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. Nine people were arrested in the case.

During questioning, officials reportedly discovered that the group was planning targeted killings in Delhi. Sources also said the accused had surveyed some high-profile places, including a famous temple in the city, and allegedly sent videos of those locations to their handlers.

Last year, police busted a Jaish-e-Mohammed-linked "white-collar terror module" following the deadly car blast at Red Fort which killed 15 people and injured several others. The explosion, which took place on November 10, uncovered a chilling terror network allegedly involving radicalised doctors from Al Falah University in Haryana's Faridabad district.
