PTC Web Desk: New Delhi witnessed a massive explosion near the Red Fort today, leaving 10 persons dead and over 20 others injured. The blast occurred at around 6.52 pm in a slow-moving vehicle near the traffic signal outside Gate No. 1 of the Lal Quila Metro Station, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha confirmed. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrived at the scene to probe the incident.

Eyewitnesses described horrifying scenes as body parts were thrown onto the road, and the force of the blast shook nearby buildings, doors, and windows. “One person’s body was torn apart; I even saw a hand on the road. The explosion was extremely powerful,” said one witness. Another added, “I saw a huge fireball from my terrace. The blast was deafening, and my house near the gurdwara shook.”

Several vehicles caught fire, and visuals from the area indicate extensive damage. The incident occurred in one of the most crowded areas of Old Delhi, near Jama Masjid and Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, which sees heavy tourist traffic throughout the year.

Emergency services responded immediately, with nearly 10 ambulances rushing to evacuate the injured. Neighbouring states, including Uttar Pradesh, and cities like Mumbai, have been placed on high alert.

The explosion comes on the same day authorities recovered over 2,500 kg of explosive chemicals from terror suspects across the country, though police sources have not linked the two incidents directly.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is closely monitoring the situation and has briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Delhi Police continue their investigation, and security has been tightened in the capital.
