PTC News Desk: Delhi's air quality slightly improved on Monday yet remained in the 'very poor' category with reading tagged at 319.
The Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) has predicted that air quality will remain in the ‘very poor’ category until Tuesday (November 4).
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) Sameer app, Wazirpur (AQI 385) and Narela (AQI 382) recorded the highest pollution levels. Most of Delhi’s 39 air monitoring stations reported Air Quality Index (AQI) readings in the ‘very poor’ range. As per CPCB standards, an AQI of 0–50 is classified as ‘good’, 51–100 ‘satisfactory’, 101–200 ‘moderate’, 201–300 ‘poor’, 301–400 ‘very poor’, and 401–500 ‘severe’.
ITO recorded the cleanest air with an AQI of 99 (‘satisfactory’), while Najafgarh (186) and Sri Aurobindo Marg (195) reported ‘moderate’ pollution levels. Other areas such as NSIT Dwarka (259), Lodhi Road (210), Delhi Technological University (242), and IGI Airport T3 (285) fell under the ‘poor’ category.
The AQEWS noted that wind speeds dropped below 8 kmph from the northwest during the evening and night hours, hindering the dispersion of pollutants.
Meanwhile, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi’s maximum temperature on Sunday stood at 30.7°C — 0.5°C below the seasonal average — while the minimum was 16.8°C, about 1.5°C above normal.
