A birthday, a last email and two bodies: Gurugram techie couple’s final hours
A Kerala couple working in IT was found dead in their M3M Marina flat in Gurugram. Police suspect the husband killed his wife and then died by suicide
PTC Web Desk: A young couple from Kerala, both working in the IT sector, were found dead in their rented flat in the M3M Marina society in Gurugram on Wednesday. The police suspect that the husband killed his wife before taking his own life.
The man has been identified as Mohammad Aslam, 30, and the woman as his wife, Farhana. The couple had moved to Gurugram from Bengaluru about three months ago. Wednesday was also Farhana’s birthday.
How the bodies were found
Aslam’s colleagues became worried after he sent an email to his employer that read, “We are leaving this world.” They contacted the couple’s landlord, who went to the flat and found the door open. Inside, he discovered both of them dead and called the police.
Farhana was lying on the floor with injuries on her neck. Aslam was found dead in the same flat. The police also recovered a note with the same message as the email.
Evidence sent for forensic tests
The police seized three laptops, two mobile phones, a diary, a pair of scissors and a pen drive from the flat. All of these have been sent for forensic examination as investigators try to establish the exact sequence of events.
Based on initial findings, the police believe Aslam killed Farhana before ending his own life. A case of murder has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Family says no marital discord
Relatives told the police that the couple were very close and that there had been no known problems in their marriage. They said, however, that Aslam had been undergoing treatment for depression for about a year and a half. Some family members feel that heavy work pressure could have played a part.
The police have said the exact circumstances are still under investigation and no conclusion has been drawn yet.
Aslam was a graduate of NIT Calicut and IIM Indore. Farhana worked with an IT company and was working from home.
