A doctor was found dead and his 8-year-old son critically injured in their Hubballi apartment. Police have detained the doctor's wife and launched a detailed investigation into the shocking incident
PTC Web Desk: A shocking incident has come to light from Karnataka's Hubballi, where a doctor was found dead inside his apartment, while his eight-year-old son was discovered with multiple stab injuries. The police have taken the doctor's wife into custody and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the case.
The deceased has been identified as Dr Kiran Honannavar, an anaesthetist working at Chirayu Hospital. He lived with his wife Priyanka Kattanahalli, an MBBS graduate with an MS in Ophthalmology, and their young son in an apartment located opposite Pavan High School in Hubballi.
According to the police, concern grew after Dr Kiran's relatives and friends failed to reach him. When they called on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday morning, Priyanka reportedly answered the phone. She initially told them that her husband was resting and later claimed that he had gone to work.

As there was still no contact with Dr Kiran, family members visited the apartment on Wednesday evening. They allegedly found Dr Kiran lying dead in a pool of blood, while the couple's eight-year-old son was seriously injured with stab wounds. Priyanka was reportedly inside the house at the time, using her mobile phone while sitting near the bodies.
Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar reached the scene after receiving information about the incident. He said the child was still breathing when officers arrived and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police said preliminary investigation indicates that only the husband, wife and child were present inside the apartment when the incident occurred. So far, investigators have not found any evidence suggesting that an outsider entered the house.
Officials are now working to establish the exact timeline of the crime, including when the attack took place and what may have led to it. Investigators are also examining whom Priyanka spoke to over the phone and the statements she made to relatives and neighbours before the bodies were discovered.
A murder case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
