Liquor shops in Delhi to shut by 8 pm over weekend amid ongoing CJP protests

PTC News Desk: Liquor shops across Delhi have reportedly been asked by authorities to close by 8 pm until the end of the weekend due to the ongoing student protests in the national capital.
The early closure, which began on Thursday, surprised many customers, with several returning without buying alcohol. Normally, liquor stores in Delhi remain open until 10 pm.
"The shops will now close by 8 pm till the weekend. The decision was taken based on the police inputs flagging the prevailing situation due to the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar," a senior Delhi government officer, said on Friday, July 24.
The protests are being led by students and youth gathered at Jantar Mantar under the banner of the CJP, who are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the ongoing controversy.
On July 20, a Parliament March organised by the CJP turned violent, leaving several protesters and a few police personnel injured.
On Friday, CJP leaders reiterated that their demand for Pradhan's resignation is non-negotiable. They warned that the protests would intensify if the government failed to act.
CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka held a two-hour meeting with Union ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh at Vithalbhai Patel House in Delhi. The meeting, the second between the two sides this week, was aimed at finding a solution to the ongoing agitation.
