PTC Web Desk: Private fuel retailer Nayara Energy has increased petrol prices by Rs 5 per litre and diesel prices by Rs 3 per litre, with the revised rates taking effect immediately, according to a report.

The latest hike comes at a time when rising global energy prices are putting pressure on fuel retailers. Nayara operates more than 7,100 fuel stations across India.

According to the report published in the columns of The Tribune, the company began applying the higher prices from the early hours of Saturday. The retailer has made several price adjustments this year as international crude oil prices and geopolitical developments have affected fuel markets.

Nayara had also raised petrol prices by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs 3 per litre in March amid a sharp rise in global oil prices linked to disruptions in energy supplies.

The company later rolled back that increase after international crude prices eased. On July 1, Nayara cut petrol and diesel prices by ₹5 and ₹3 per litre, respectively.

The latest increase comes as global crude prices remain under pressure from tensions in West Asia. Indian fuel retailers have been facing higher input costs as international oil prices have climbed in recent weeks.

Nayara had not responded to requests for comment at the time of the report.

The latest move could add to concerns over fuel costs for consumers, particularly if elevated global oil prices continue for an extended period.
