PM Modi honoured with Seychelles highest honour for environmental leadership

The award recognizes Modi's efforts in promoting climate action, green growth, environmental protection and the Blue Economy.

PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the "Guardian of the Blue Horizon", the highest honour of Seychelles for leadership in environmental conservation and sustainable development.


The award recognizes Modi's efforts in promoting climate action, green growth, environmental protection and the Blue Economy. The Presidential Citation also highlights his support for Small Island Developing States, climate resilience, international cooperation and the sustainable management of ocean resources. It further acknowledges the growing partnership between India and Seychelles.


Responding to the honour, Modi said he was humbled to receive the award and dedicated it to the people of India. He reaffirmed India's commitment to protecting the environment, promoting sustainable development and strengthening global cooperation for a greener future.


This is the latest in a series of international recognitions received by Modi for his work in climate action and sustainable development.


In May 2026, the Food and Agriculture Organization presented him with the Agricola Medal for his contributions to food security, agricultural transformation and sustainable farming.


Earlier, in 2018, he received the Seoul Peace Prize for promoting sustainable economic growth, global cooperation and inclusive development.


The same year, the United Nations honoured him with the Champions of the Earth Award, the organisation's highest environmental recognition, for his leadership in climate action and international environmental cooperation.
