SGPC steps forward to support Assam flood victims, reaffirms Sikh tradition of sewa
SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has offered full support to the Assam government for flood relief and rehabilitation efforts, including volunteers, langar, relief material and financial assistance
PTC Web Desk: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has come forward to support people affected by the recent devastating floods in Assam. SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has written to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property and offering every possible assistance for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
SGPC expresses solidarity with flood-affected families
In his letter, Advocate Dhami said the large-scale displacement caused by the floods is deeply distressing. He added that, as the apex Sikh religious body, the SGPC stands in solidarity with the Assam government and the people affected by the disaster.
He said the committee understands the hardships being faced by thousands of families and is committed to serving humanity in line with the Sikh principles of Sarbat Da Bhala (welfare of all) and selfless service.

The SGPC president assured the Assam government that volunteer teams would be sent as required in coordination with the state administration. He also offered to provide food items, drinking water, clothes, blankets and other essential relief supplies. Besides this, the SGPC is prepared to organise langar services in flood-hit areas, extend financial assistance and provide any additional support needed during the relief and rehabilitation process.
Request for nodal officer details
Advocate Dhami requested the Assam Chief Minister to share details of the nodal officer concerned or department responsible for coordinating relief operations.
He said this would help the SGPC ensure that volunteers, resources and relief material reach the affected people without delay.

The SGPC president also announced that a delegation is being sent to Assam to assess the ground situation in the flood-affected areas.
The team will submit a report after reviewing the conditions on the ground, enabling the SGPC to plan and strengthen its relief efforts in coordination with the state government.
