No Covid vaccine, no entry at public places in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Amid the rising cases of Covid-19 variant Omicron, the Chandigarh Administration on Friday banned the entry of unvaccinated people at public places, hotels, bars, cinemas, and banks.

The order has been issued by UT Adviser Dharam Pal. He said new Covid-19 Omicron variant cases were increasing across the country. He said it was imperative to get both doses of Covid-19 vaccine to check further spread.

He said adults whose vaccine doses were still pending should remain out of public places/market/function/public transport/religious places until they were fully vaccinated. “As all are aware that the Covid-19 pandemic has posed a huge challenge to the community and affected each and every individual adversely,” the order says.

“In public places with large gatherings such as sabzi mandi, grain markets, public transport, parks, religious places malls, shopping complexes, haats, local market and other similar places, only fully vaccinated (second dose) adult persons or those who are not due for the second dose as per health protocol are to be allowed,” the new order said. The violators will be fined Rs 500.
