Passports Of 60 NRIs Suspended For Abandoning Wives The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Chandigarh has suspended passports of 60 Non-resident Indian (NRI) grooms who have deserted their wives within months of marriage. After suspending the passports, the Regional Passport office has informed the authorities in the countries where the truant husbands were residing. Out of 2000 cases, more than 70% of them are from Punjab. The Chandigarh RPO office is flooded with complaints. It is why it has started suspending the passports of the NRI’s against whom FIRs have been registered and courts have issued summons and warrants.
